Goodwater Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard/winery located in the foothills of the majestic Smoky Mountains. Although completed in 2013, the Goodwater Vineyards’ winery is the heart of Goodwater Vineyard’s production. Above all our building is highly efficient using several layers of insulation to conserve energy. Furthermore, much of the winemaking begins in the lab where all of our in-house testing takes place. Our tasting room is most representative of our farm starting with Gene’s hand-carved bar made of black walnut harvested from the back 70 acres. We incorporated one of the original oak barn’s lumber to build the roof above the bar.
Steve is Carol Hood’s brother and has been working at Goodwater Vineyards since the establishment of the first vines. Growing up near Atlanta, Georgia Steve was known as a very wild child. He took his wild to the actual wild and became an avid hiker and rock-climber. These building skills provided the Goodwater family with a shoo-in for building the winery independently. Steve enjoys the farm life and all of his nephews and nieces. We all know him as Uncle Steve.
