Located between Memphis and Jackson in the peaceful town of Somerville, Tennessee, De Terra Vineyards and Wines of Somerville is a proud member of the Wine Trail of West Tennessee and a must-visit stop for those exploring Tennessee’s flourishing wine scene. Nestled on 34 scenic acres between a charming country farmhouse and rows of neatly cultivated vines, De Terra offers a quaint and picturesque wine tasting experience in a setting that feels like home.

Though the winery officially opened its doors in October 2014, the journey began a full decade earlier. In 2004, owners Jerry and Teresa Pentz purchased the land with a dream of one day opening their own vineyard. They planted their first grapevines and built their home, moving in by 2005, and began making wine just two years later. The path to opening wasn’t easy—Jerry had to secure licenses from five separate government agencies—but his dedication, hands-on approach, and deep belief in producing a high-quality, local product kept the dream alive.

Today, De Terra Vineyards is known for its warm hospitality, welcoming tasting room, and handcrafted Tennessee wines. Jerry Pentz, often spotted in work boots and a t-shirt, continues to be a hands-on owner, working in the vines and winery daily to ensure every bottle reflects the care and effort poured into it.

De Terra has become more than a business—it’s a community staple in Fayette County, inviting guests to relax, sip, and enjoy the fruits of true hard work and perseverance. Whether you’re a local looking for a relaxing afternoon or a traveler exploring the West Tennessee wine trail, De Terra Vineyards offers a memorable experience filled with authenticity, flavor, and Southern charm.

Come visit and see why De Terra is more than just a winery—it’s a story of patience, passion, and the promise of great Tennessee wine.
