Watauga Lake Winery is located in the Appalachian High Country American Viticulture Area (AVA). Award winning estate wines are produced from the grapes grown at the wineries vineyard, Villa Nove Vineyards. Walk through history as you visit the classrooms of the historic Big Dry Run Schoolhouse that have been transformed into the wine production area, tasting room and event center. Enjoy our deli selections as you sample local wines from local vines.

Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, our Watauga Lake Winery revives a 40s-era school house rich in lore against a stunning mountain backdrop. But of course we serve more than local legends and beautiful views! Sample a variety of wines for every palate, including award-winning white, red, fruit, and dessert options. We’ll also be happy to suggest perfect food pairings from our daily menu.

From School House Red to our sister property Villa Nove Vineyards’ blend Big Dry Run Red – an everyday red perfectly paired with Watauga Lake Mercantile’s juicy BBQ or delicious burgers – we have options by the glass or bottle and also offer discounts on crates. Wines from our sister property, Villa Nove Vineyards, are also available for purchase by the bottle. Take them home to share with friends and family, and savor their characteristic terroir inspired by this very area, like notes of mineral and oak.
